Indulge the mind and the senses at the Fifth Annual Chocolate Fest and Book Faire held in the historic downtown Martinsburg on Saturday, April 29, 2017. This event is sponsored by Main Street Martinsburg and Blue Ridge Technical and Community College. Experience a one day chocolate extravaganza held in downtown Martinsburg… taste some wonderful chocolate, indulge yourself in an array of chocolate creations throughout the businesses in downtown Martinsburg, explore the unique shops and speak with West Virginia authors. The festival features local and out of state authors signing their books within the businesses There are over 25 businesses each preparing a different chocolate item for you to enjoy on the chocolate Walk. DeFluri’s Fine Chocolates, a local chocolatier, will offer tours of its 10,000 square foot factory, plus host a wine pairing on Friday Night. An annual favorite, the cupcake competition offers a prize of $500 for the very best cupcake creation. The cupcakes are judged on flavor as well as presentation. And who thinks of chocolate without thinking of the favorite film, “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory” starring Gene Wilder. Showings are at the Public Library on the corner of King and Queen Street. Tickets for the event can be purchased on the day of the event. Tickets are $5.00 per person. Children under 5 years of age are free. The event starts at 10:00 a.m.
Chocolate Walk 0ver 22 Downtown Businesses Participating
Tickets are $5 each (children on 5 free) and will be on sale at the corner of Queen and Martin Streets and at the corner of Queen and Burke Streets during the event on Saturday. This ticket will allow you to visit everything downtown at the Chocolate Fest/Book Faire.

Chocolate Factory Tours
Tour the candy kitchen of DeFluri’s Fine Chocolates on Saturday. Tours are scheduled at 10 AM, Noon, and 2 PM & 4PM. There is no charge to be on a tour and no ticket is necessary. This is a very popular attraction of the Chocolate Festival.

DeFluri’s Fine Chocolates has been in the business of making chocolates since 1985. Come and see the “candy-kitchen” of a full-line retail and manufacturing confectioner where time-tested candy techniques and equipment are used to produce more than 200 varieties of confections. See how some of our confections are crafted in our candy center production area and then see how those centers are finished on our chocolate lines. If you’ve ever wondered how you can get a soft creamy center in a chocolate shell, take our tour and find out for yourself.
IMPORTANT VISITOR GUIDELINES AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
DeFluri’s Fine Chocolates is a Federally inspected food plant and subject to FDA regulations. By entering our facility, you agree to follow the rules and regulations that apply to all food plants in the United States.
INGREDIENTS NOTE: DeFluri’s uses ingredients containing wheat flour, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, and other allergens. During a tour of our facility, you may be exposed to one or more of these. If you are allergic to any of these, you should not enter our facility.
Every child 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult and the adult is responsible to make sure each child complies with all rules and regulations.
CLOTHING – please wear clean outer garments including a shirt with sleeves. A tank top or sleeveless shirt is prohibited. Shoes with enclosed toes are required.
HAIR – a hairnet will be provided and must be worn and cover all hair from your head. A clean baseball cap is an acceptable hair restraint.
SMOKING is prohibited. Eating, drinking or gum chewing inside the production area is not allowed. You must be in good health. Anyone showing signs of visible illness will not be allowed to take the tour.
The loss of any personal items must be reported to the tour director immediately. We cannot be responsible for any loss of personal items. Please do not touch any of the machinery, materials or finished product.
The FDA prohibits us from making exceptions to the above rules. Failure to follow rules and regulations will result in removal from the tour.
Cupcake Contest-1902 Building (corner of Martin Street & Queen Street)
Cupcakes are hot! If you want to see and experience an amazing array of cupcakes, then come to the 1902 Building at the corner of Martin and Queen Streets and check-out the huge number of entries in our Annual Cupcake Contest. We guarantee a mouth-watering great time!
Participants will be entering two dozen cupcakes for a chance to win $500 or $150. The cupcakes are part of the Chocolate Walk, so your Chocolate Walk ticket (only $5) allows you to taste the entries. Think of the possibilities… Yum.
The cupcakes are judged on Best Overall appearance and taste for first place and Most Creative for 2nd place. The cupcake judging will take place during the morning and the winners will be announced at 3:30 PM.
