Newberry Executive Center (NEC) is located in the heart of historic downtown Martinsburg WV. The building began life in the 1920’s as JJ Newberry Five and Dime until it was sold in the 1960’s to the Rockwell’s to be used as an office supply company. It ran as such until about 2000.
In 2004 the building was sold and underwent a total rehab. The building is “L” shape. The smaller part was portioned off and is currently being used as a retail flower and gift shop. The larger portion, approximately 30’ wide by 203’ deep with a second story on the front half, has been given a new life as an Executive Office Complex.
Rehab included all new roofs, electric, plumbing, HVAC, interior walls being built, flooring and more. The original tin ceilings were restored and some of the original lights were found and reinstalled.
There are currently 20 offices on the main floor with an additional 11 on the 2nd floor. The building has been fully renovated using the Secretary of Interior’s Rehabilitation Standards.
